SUMMER READING LIST!!!

to me, being a college graduate means getting to read anything and everything i want. i do still miss the book discussions and class atmosphere, but i love picking all of my own books even more.

for the last few years, i've made a goal to read a book a week (52 a year). i'm a little behind schedule this year, but i can't wait to stay up late all summer long, catching on with my 2015 reading list.

-half of a yellow sun, by chimamanda ngozi adichie (http://bit.ly/1J1mRBf). jared and i listened to ms adichie's americanah on tape and i fell in love with her use of language, word choice, and story telling. i can't wait to jump into her writing again with this critically acclaimed book.

-the white album, by joan didion (http://bit.ly/1Ibc6O7). i love creative nonfiction, and joan didion is the master. some of her other books have made real impacts on my life, especially reading the year of magical thinking about the death of didion's husband after my brother died.

-zen in the art of writing, by ray bradbury (http://bit.ly/1IvXpkq). what better way to learn about writing well, than from the wisdom of ray bradbury?

-naked, by david sedaris (http://bit.ly/1dd0Pjk). david sedaris is always a light, funny, and easy read. perfect to bring along on camping trips, visits to the park, or lazy days at the pool.

-travels with charley, by john steinbeck (http://bit.ly/1GklRov). embarking on a road trip to discover america with your dog. this just could not be more my style. honestly, i'm surprised i haven't read this yet.

-angela's ashes, by frank mccourt (http://bit.ly/1HahwKr). this one is at the very top of my to-read summer reading list. it's supposed to be one of the greatest memoirs ever written, and it's always listed on my suggested reading lists. hopefully it lives up to all the hype!

-last child in the woods, by richard louv (http://bit.ly/1RrWPco). i spent my childhood roaming around the desert and winding my way through sandstone. i want the same for my kids.

-bad feminist, by roxanne gay (http://bit.ly/1TJtNZw). another sharp, funny, and easy read for whiling away relaxing summer days.
